Linklaters Launches Dutch ABS Practice

Linklaters launched its structured finance practice in Amsterdam by hiring Kees Westermann, who will head up the new practice.

Westermann will be joining Linklaters on April 1 from Clifford Chance, where he was a partner specializing in structured finance, including securitizations and covered bonds.

He is credited for working on a range of complex securitizations and has focused on the covered bond market in the Netherlands and internationally.

The Amsterdam structured finance practice will function within the firm's global structured finance network.

“The Netherlands is an important jurisdiction in this area, as one of Europe’s largest issuing countries of both securitization notes and covered bonds,” said Martijn Koopal, head of Linklaters' Amsterdam office. “Our investment in this practice reflects our belief that the Dutch securitization and covered bond market will remain an important source of financing for financial institutions.”
